Mark Wahlberg Researches Blackjack Games for “The Gambler”

For those blackjack and movie fans, movie starring Mark Wahlberg, “The Gambler” is set to come to theaters in December. For his role, he researched on all the blackjack games, as well as what blackjack strategy to use. Throughout the movie he plays a gambling addict, whose main passion is to play the blackjack games.

This remake of the 1980 movie, of the same name and nature, drove Wahlberg to various different casinos while shooting various of his other movies, and played at the blackjack tables. His first experience, at a casino in Macau, he won a lot of money. His second round in Hong Kong proved to be just as fruitful, however he ended up losing all of his money on roulette. What he did gain from his time playing blackjack was that it was a fun experience and helped him realize what his character was thinking and going through.

The character that Wahlberg plays is a gaunt fellow, so he had to lose some weight for his role. Many great actors go beyond when preparing for a film, and Mark Wahlberg is one that takes his job and passion seriously. Come December 25th, go see The Gambler in theaters and see what blackjack strategies are used.
